Somewhere along the journey, God quietly redirected our attention. Not toward a new doctrine. Not toward a forgotten command. But toward a pattern that had been there all along. A beautiful, recurring pattern woven through the whole story of Scripture. After that, familiar stories began to shine differently. It was as though someone had quietly handed us a new pair of glasses. Abraham was no longer just Abraham. Moses was no longer just Moses. Naomi, Barnabas, Paul, and Timothy were no longer isolated stories. They were witnesses to the same generous pattern. God hadn’t changed. His Word hadn’t changed. Our eyesight had. The more we looked, the more we noticed that Haver wasn’t something we were bringing to the Bible. It was something the Bible had been quietly bringing to us—all along. That realization changed the way we read almost every page of Scripture. We stopped asking only, “What is God teaching here?” We also began asking, “Who is God gathering here?” Those two questions are not competitors. They belong together. Because throughout the Scriptures, God rarely gives His truth without also creating a people who will live that truth together.
