Imagine two teachers. The first enters the room thinking, “I have something to give you.” The second enters thinking, “God has something for us.” Both may teach the same biblical truth. But the atmosphere feels completely different. One delivers. The other discovers. One finishes the lesson. The other begins a lifelong conversation. One measures success by how much was covered. The other by how deeply people were changed. That’s the difference between teaching at and learning with. For years we prepared as though everything depended on us. The better our outline… The clearer our illustrations… The stronger our application… The more transformation would happen. Now we think differently. We still prepare. Perhaps harder than ever. But we no longer believe we’re bringing God into the room. He’s already there. Our recurring, more humble job is to help friends pay attention to Him together. We sometimes picture it this way: Me. You. The Holy Spirit. None of us arrives with everything. All of us arrive expecting Him to be present among us. When teachers stop trying to control every discovery, something beautiful happens. People begin teaching one another as truth becomes shared.
