On Monday March 17th, Bill Allison and Dave & Rennie Garda started a sabbatical study journey to Egypt & Israel. The journey took us through London to Cairo, then we drove from Cairo to the Egypt/Israel border, walked across and began our study sabbatical in Israel. In Egypt after a Cadre cultural day (Pyramids & Cairo Museum) we were joined by Cadre friends John & Gayle Rector and our hosts Greg & Linda Picur. We traveled together from Egypt to Israel with these friends as a few new companions who were destined to become friends as well.

Study Sabbatical highlights where a photo is worth a thousand words

We ran where Jesus walked from Thursday through Sunday AM (Jerusalem, Western Wall, Tunnel Tour under the Ancient City, Judea, Samaria and up to Galilee. We explored the Sea Galilee, Jesus Home Town (Capernaum) and enjoyed a traditional middle-eastern feast including the “Saint Peter’s Fish.”

Then after being dropped in the middle of the desert after a day at the Dead Sea we found our way back to Jerusalem to begin our intense yet refreshing study days as a Cadre team. We enjoyed extended quiet times. Focused reading times through 6 books we’re reading as a team. We journaled, dialogued and refreshed our souls with worship. In the evenings we engaged the culture with dialogues, meals and coffee adventures.

In the photo’s to follow we’ll highlight a few of our experiences, lessons learned and personal insights.

It’s great to be home (March 29th), but I’m going to miss the 6 hours a day spent in reflection and refreshment with Jesus, Rennie and Bill.
